I joined the Secrier Lab at UCL in June 2023, where I study tumour cell plasticity in breast, liver metastasis and their interactions with the tumour microenvironment using single-cell and spatial transcriptomics datasets. My research focuses on understanding cell cycle arrest and the mechanisms that govern transitions between quiescent and proliferative phenotypes. I also develop computational methods for spatial transcriptomics to characterise the spatial organisation of these cellular states.

I hold BSc and MSc degrees in Bioengineering from Ege University, Turkey. During my PhD at the National University of Singapore, I led projects in stem-cell-based tissue engineering, followed by postdoctoral work at Nanyang Technological University, where I established single-cell RNA sequencing infrastructure and investigated endoplasmic reticulum stress. Beyond academia, I volunteer with Bilimler Köyü (Village of Sciences), an initiative for democratising STEMM research and social sciences to young minds, where I teach biological data analysis to young women from underprivileged regions.
